Both food and the feeling of being thin are temporary satisfactions. Your body will change as you age. You’ll get wrinkles around your eyes, thin skin over your hands. Your veins will start to show. Maybe your teeth will yellow, or you’ll start to get dark arm hair.

Loving your body, however… that is a long-term satisfaction. Find a place where you feel healthy, energetic, happy. Stick with that place.

My place includes eating cheesecake when it’s offered, devouring the everlasting fuck out of that pizza and not feeling guilty about what I eat.

The lack of guilt, honestly, is what has let me reach this state of confidence and self-love. I’ll watch my diet when I think about it, but otherwise not give a flying fuck beyond ‘if I’m hungry, eat. If I’m not hungry, don’t eat. Drink lots of fluids, dumbass, you dehydrate easily’

Feeling guilty, regretting what you’ve eaten, feeling sick or anxious because of something you put in your mouth… that kind of stress tears you up inside.

Those feelings are far more harmful to your body and your mind than any slice of pizza could ever be.

For a long while, I seriously didn’t like the way I looked. If someone ever said ‘You look handsome/attractive/beautiful I would thank them for the sentiment, but brush off the words, since I didn’t believe them.

I can’t prescribe a way to love yourself - that depends entirely on your own thoughts and feelings.

I can say this, though.

Swearing out loud helped me.

“I’m going to eat the shit out of this bacon, and I’m going to enjoy it, goddamnit, No regrets because I’m fucking amazing!” And later, if the guilt starts to creep in, take a deep breath and try to kick it back. “I said I’d enjoy it and I did. It was fucking delicious, and I don’t regret eating it. I’m still awesome, and that bacon was awesome too.”

Even if the guilt or regret or whatever comes in, don’t take that statement back. Stick by it, repeat it. You’re awesome. You’re beautiful. You’re a fucking fantastic individual and no dumbass chunk of flesh, fat or carbohydrates can change that.

Swear at the food. Get mad. Chew angrily and drink water like an overly dramatic anime character. Gesture wildly and pretend your food has done something wrong and needs to be destroyed. DESTROY IT WITH YOUR TEETH.

Not regretting what you’ve eaten - even if it’s greasy or sugary or whatever - It’s a small step toward not regretting your actions, or regretting yourself… Toward not disliking yourself.

You can change your diet later. Changing your heart needs to happen now.

As anticipation mounts among fantasy fans ahead of the Radio 4 adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, RadioTimes.com can reveal the first exclusive shot of the star-studded cast, which reads like a who’s who of cult TV.

Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and X-Men’s James McAvoy are joined by Game of Thrones and former Fades star Natalie Dormer, Doctor Who alumnus Sophie Okondeo and Homeland’s David Harewood for the tale of London Below, an alternate reality beneath the capital where famous landmarks take on a life of their own.

Screen legends Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins also star in an adaptation that is being described as an “audio film”.

The six-part series begins with an hour-long episode on Saturday 16 March on Radio 4 and continues with five 30-minute instalments on Radio 4 Extra from Monday 18 March.

This German art student, Benjamin Harff, decided, for his exam at the Academy of Arts, to do something only slightly ambitious — to hand-illuminate and bind a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Silmarillion. It took him six months of work. In very 21st century elvish-monk style, he hand-illuminated the text which had been printed on his home Canon inkjet printer. He worked with a binder to assemble the resulting book.
